lisa s
Lisa is a singer, arranger and saxophonist, originally from New Zealand where she studied music performance at Wellington Polytechnic and toured NZ with various local and international musicians.
After moving to Melbourne, Lisa became involved in community singing, experiencing its positive effect on participants; she is a firm believer in music-making being accessible to everyone.
Over the last 20+ years Lisa has been focusing on voice; in particular, directing, singing with, and arranging for a Capella vocal ensembles, indulging her passion for vocal harmonies.
Lisa has led a number of community and workplace choirs, run singing workshops, and performed everywhere from Chapel Off Chapel, to St Paul's Cathedral, to the local school fete. She currently teaches music in the performing arts program at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Hans
Hans known to be of dubious origin - he has a German passport and an African connection.
His music career started strongly as a chorister in a chapel choir (in the 70s) and then stepped away from it. In the late 90's he discovered the a Capella choir, Tongue n Groove, run by Lisa S. This reignited his passion for singing and performing. A stint at Heart n Soul and then a trip to New Orleans in 2005 with renowned Gospel music legend Tony Backhouse locked in the love. Their favourite song was "The Storm is Passing Over", which came in handy as they performed as hurricane Katrina hit the area.
A stint with Vogal and Spooky Men's Chorale meant performing at Port Fairy and Woodford festivals as well as a few nerve racking soirees into outer Victoria.
Hans has one of the deepest voices we know, and as the bass, is the foundation of so many of our songs. He is also passionate about our blend and ensures we get it right!

lisa U
Lisa started singing as a university student in Queensland, with a vocal jazz ensemble called Scat! Her mentor and musical director, Harlie Axford, instilled in Lisa a love of jazz and harmonies, which she still cherishes to this day. Scat! took her to many places around Australia and the world with some of the highlights including singing at Expo 88 in Brisbane, Expo 86 in Vancouver, Disneyland in L.A., The Sydney Opera House and many concerts at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex.
After moving to San Diego for love in 1990, Lisa continued her passion for harmonies with an a Capella group, Jazz Connections, performing until she and her husband started a family.
Moving back to Australia in 1998, Lisa met Mark Rigoni, a fine jazz guitarist, and their duo, Another Season began. They enjoyed many years of creating beautiful Latin and jazz music together, making an album which they launched at Dizzy's Jazz Club in Richmond.
Lisa joined Vocal Agents over 10 years ago and has enjoyed being a key part of their unique sound.
When not on stage singing, Lisa is on stage acting. She enjoys an ongoing commitment to community theatre.

carol
Carol started singing later in life when she joined a small local group called ‘The Heavenly Bodies’ in Melbourne. Songs included original compositions by Director Tracey Miller, and also bluegrass and some gospel. When the group finished up, Carol joined a new gospel group ‘It’s a Gospel Nation’, which later morphed into Melbourne Singers of Gospel, with sometimes up to 90 members.
In 2001, she joined a trip to the US with Tony Backhouse, visiting and singing in black congregations in New Orleans, Memphis and New York, including meeting the Rev Al Green at his church in Memphis. Highlights from that time as Alto Section leader include music festivals at Apollo Bay, Queenscliff and Fed Square in Melbourne.
Shortly after this trip Carol joined a local blues band as back-up singer, and first experienced a Capella when joining ‘Soul Babes’, a four girl group which lasted a year or so.
Over 10 years ago she joined the Vocal Agents as Alto and performs many of our solos numbers as well as blending to create our fabulous harmonies.
Carol enjoys performing a Capella, and continues to play music with friends, and with her family.

Luke
Luke is a relative newcomer to Vocal Agents. He has spent over 20 years singing and playing keyboards in a band. Music has always coursed through his veins!
Several years ago he joined the a Capella choir Noteworthy to stretch his vocal skills. A key part of the tenor section, he has successfully stepped out from behind the keyboard and transitioned from "band member" to "vocal legend."
When our previous tenor moved to another part of the state to enjoy retirement, the search was on for a replacement. Luke has successfully made the tenor part his own embracing new solos, building great harmonies and even taking on some of the fabulous dance moves we have.
We are thrilled to have him on board.

warwick
Warwick is our newest member of Vocal Agents. We were looking for a little something in our bottom end, and a baritone seemed to fit the bill.
He has sung for over 20 years in groups like Melbourne Singers of Gospel, Primo Sante, Mood Swing, Tongue n Groove and Noteworthy. He has even filled in for Hansi in a prior Vocal Agents gig.
Warwick also has significant stage time. He spent 10 years training and performing with Impro Melbourne, countless amateur theatre productions, and even performed as a backup singer for Josh Groban.
He is known for adding a bit of fun to whatever is happening as long as the performance is spot on.
When he is not singing he is at his farm, driving a tractor or hanging out with his wife and poodle.
WHAT we BELIEVE
”
a capella is one of the best ways to hear music. the harmonies and energy speak for themselves. all we have to do is make it sound great
